Your story in your own words
A filmed conversation with Garth Russell.
Are you at that stage of life?
I’m not talking about being old. And I don’t mean you’re ready to give up on life. I’m talking about that stage where you start to reflect.
What have I accomplished? What am I truly proud of? What are the little things that mean a lot?
What will my legacy be?
It’s time to ensure that your loved ones, family members, business partners and those you’re yet to meet understand who you are and why you do what you do.
Now is the perfect time to tell your story.
What if you could give the gift of lasting memories and time-tested anecdotes to the generations to come?
I know it may not feel like the right time to tell your story just yet. But if you don’t do it now, when will you? Perhaps you’ve worked hard over the years and want your story told in your words as a lasting public legacy. Perhaps you want your story, or those of family members preserved for generations to come.
Telling your story is a gift not only to you and those around you but for those future generations who will always be linked to you through your legacy and the stories you tell about who came before them.
When a family loses one of its leaders, generations of knowledge can be lost.
Maybe this is something you’re considering as a gift to an older relative, so those precious stories are preserved (and so some are remembered again before it’s too late)
Let’s be honest, this is a gift for your whole family.
Identity is important. Imagine your children, your children’s children, holding onto those stories of where their family came from. Of what life was like way back in the 2020s.
It’s your family of the future who are the real beneficiaries of you telling your story.
Tell your story to Garth Russell – a true media professional and talented conversationalist.
I’m not your average media personality. I’m genuinely interested in your view of the world.
Over the years I’ve been able to make the process of sharing life stories an enjoyable and rewarding experience that allows you to truly reflect on your own life and all that you have achieved.
I understand people. And I will understand you when you tell me your story. We will laugh. We may cry. And at the end I know you will be look back on the day we spent talking together as an important one.
I can help you share your message with the people in your life that really matter to you. And even the ones you’re yet to meet.
"Having recently spent some time with Garth and understanding his initiative, it made me stop and think, what if my 6-year-old daughter never got to hear my story through my own words…This thought continued in my mind and there was an element of sadness that came upon me, and it was for this reason I wanted to take part in the initiative. At 42 years old and recently making a fairly bold business decision to focus on my wellbeing and my family, I wanted to ensure that my story was documented so Farrah and I can sit together and talk about these experiences as we grow older together.”

So, how do I help you tell your story?
I know it might feel daunting but telling your story can be one of the most profound experiences of your life.
I make the whole process as easy and enjoyable as possible. Imagine sitting down in your lounge room (or wherever you feel comfortable) and telling an old friend about your life. That’s it, plus a camera or two.
Here’s how the process flows:
– You pick a quiet and private space for the filming
– I’ll send you a list of sample questions and topics
– I’ll obtain background knowledge before the day of filming
– I’ll also follow up with a phone call a few days before filming
– The filming process will take around three hours from arrival to wrap up
– There will be myself and a cameraman with two cameras present
– Family members are welcome, but due to the nature of the interview it works best without an audience in the room
Simple, right?

"The experience was very enjoyable and will certainly mean that our descendants won’t have the feelings of dismay at not being able to work out what their forebearers life was like, the times we grew up in and the experiences we have had. I thoroughly commend Garth’s professionalism and excellence in the way he is able to offer this, reasonably unique but much appreciated opportunity and I know that a number of my business colleagues and friends have availed themselves of his services and have been similarly delighted."

Some Frequently Asked Questions Answered...
I’ll give you questions ahead of time to think about your answers. Then a day before filming I’ll call to go over everything and get ready for the interview. On the day it will be me and my cameraman, coming to you (additional costs may apply outside the Newcastle region). We have two cameras to set up and then I’ll sit with you in a quiet and comfortable place of your choosing to have a relaxed conversation.
While a supportive family member is always welcome, due to the intimate nature of the filming it works best without an audience. Save that for the premier of the final product!
With all the packages you’ll get a file with the finished filmed interview. You can also get the file in an engraved thumb drive gift box at an extra cost of $20 per item.
That’s fine. It’s totally up to you what you share and what you don’t. I will send questions beforehand to look at so you can think about what you would like to say and if there’s anything you would like to keep to yourself. We can also discuss what you want to say and what you want to leave out beforehand, so I know to steer clear of certain topics.
From start to finish, around three hours.
That depends on whether you’ve chosen an option with or without photos. With photos, the finished copy will be available four weeks after the photos have been supplied. Without photos, the finished copy will be available four weeks after the
filming.
As far as you require. With costs adjusted based on time and distance travelled.
